A Beckoning Silence (formerly known as Johnny for President and A Minor Detail) are a 6-piece alternative rock band hailing from Swindon, with a current line-up of DJ (Vocals and Guitar), Broady (Guitar), Martin (Guitar), Bren (Bass), Emily (Keys) and Jamie (Drums). With influences from Funeral for a Friend, and many other styles. Their musical tastes have blended together to produce harmonising guitar riffs, catchy melodies and memorable chorus lines. After several line-up adjustments and name changes, A Beckoning Silence formed officially in 2007. After a year of gigging the local area and taking part in numerous charity events, the band won Battle of the Bands, despite tough competition from the likes of The Dead Lay Waiting, Steaming Nina and Let the Games Begin. The band are currently in rehearsals for their headline slot at the Swindon Youth Festival, after enjoying a successful recording session with Barry Andrews of XTC fame.
